Who is this little person in my house?

I'm in such shock at this little person, I almost feel like we must be babysitting or something.  Who is this 3 foot, 26 pound little person running around my house saying things like "Mom, It's complicated!" or telling me that I"m ridiculous!  Excuse me????  You are not even 2 1/2 yet.......how do you know these words?  She's not just saying words, she's using them in sentences appropriately.  Well, just about one month ago she started with....."Why?".  This is much earlier than I had expected.  But I love those words "But why mommy, why?" with her little hands up in the air and a shrug of the shoulders.  How can you not tell her anything when she asks like that!  I also enjoy when she asks for something (nothing in particular) and daddy tells her no and then with the sweetest little voice she says "Please Daddy, plllleeeassse!" (and then Ryan gives in-sometimes).  Speaking of Ryan--this is another fun word in the Tolle house.  When I need help or something I call across the house "Daddy, Daddy" and when there is no answer (which means he's almost literally stuck in the TV) I say "Ryan".  Ever so often, Madie does the same thing if either of us don't answer quick enough.  It may start with "Mommy, Mommy", but then she says "RYAN".  I don't think she even knows what Ryan really is.  We've also been working on manners and practicing saying "Mister" and "Miss".  However, there are much more "Miss" times and that one has now stuck for everything.  Right down to Miss Mommy AND Miss Daddy!

Other news to note is that we are able to ride our tricycle all by our self now!  Not sure how it came about, but it seemed like in a two days span she took interest and then just started pedaling all on her own.  Ryan and I got bikes with a child seat for my birthday, so that might have something to do it.  Or it could be my conspiracy thought of finding ways to end Mommy's fun....  She recognizes almost all of her letters and is trying to count in the twenties (really just 21 and 23 over and over).  But the really BIG news is POTTY TRAINING!  Two weeks ago we started wearing real big girl undies and this past week we've had ZERO pee-pee accidents!  I am so proud of her and when I see her get up on her potty stool that PaPa made her and sit on that big toilet--she just looks too small to be doing this!  I'm feeling a little robbed on having a "baby".

So at the end of April we took our first family vacation.  OK, so we drive from Tampa to Crystal

River and that is a little over an hour drive for Madelyn.  AND that requires about 3 Cat in the Hat episodes, at fifteen minutes per episode, played over and over and over.  Now we decide to drive to the opposite coast to New Smyrna Beach......almost three times longer of a ride........we are CRAZY!  But...it was oh so worth it to see that smile :o)  We stayed in a condo right on the beach so we could go down and come up as we needed.  She played in the dirt, fed the birds, walked on the beach, collected sea shells and loved the waves.  When the waves came in she would squeal and run away and then run after them when they returned back out.  She was so excited and so cute to watch.  Love the beach!  Then our last day we were eating apple slices on the beach and she got up and started to walk towards the condo.  I asked where was she going and she told me "I want to go home".  I said up the stairs home or home with Buddy & Julie?  She said "My home with Buddy & Julie".  Just like that she was ready to go home.  I was glad because we thought it was going to get ugly when we had to say the words.

Mommy's favorite moments:  Cutest little naked butt ever at bath time when she runs as fast as she can to put her dirty clothes in the hamper.

We've Got Ears, Say Cheers!

So the whole two years came and went with a blink of the eye.  She's not only walking; she's running.  She's not only talking; she's saying sentences.  She's not only growing; she's grown  :o)  Her second year wellness check up has her at 35 inches tall and 24 pounds.  80th percentile for height!  Doctor Allison said she's just shy of the average height of a three year old.  Whoa-- stop right there!  Let's not make this any faster than it has been.  She's still OUR little girl!  So we decided to have a big birthday celebration.  The best part was that her cousin born exactly one year later was in town to celebrate together.  Cotton & Gidget turning ONE and TWO!

Most of all I am so thankful for all the help from all our family!  We love you and thank you for making such a special day!

T * W * O !!

TODAY my little baby is turning TWO!  Yup!  And she can tell you that WHILE holding up two fingers now-- how excited she is to do it.  She was so frustrated to watch us count with our fingers and she couldn’t do it.  For a long time, two was using both pointer fingers.  She really is all grown up.  It makes this mommy sad on such a special day.  Tears of joy I think is what they call them, but I still don't feel the joy.....  She can put her own socks and shoes on.  Can change her clothes & take off her diaper (with the bribe of “TWO mints” or tic tacs on many occasions).  She officially can climb out of her crib, but only twice has really attempted to and luckily I was there to help her down.  Most times she just calls out for us.  To be honest, not really us.  Lately, almost EVERYthing is “Mommy do it”.  So, mommy is feeling like she’s doing a little double duty lately….but then I think how one day she will have nothing to do with me & it makes me appreciate these moments.

So, we have the BIG BIRTHDAY PARTY coming up this weekend and I think for her birthday we should get her a pony!  Yes, I have lost my mind :o)  We recently went to the Tampa Bay Downs races and she was THRILLED to see the horses.  And she kept saying “Horse come here NOW” (as she pointed hastily to the ground and sometimes a stomp of the foot).  There were also seagulls and TRACTORS!  My girl loves her a tractor to ride on thanks to her PaPa’s John Deere lawnmower.  But ever since that trip, she loves to ride the horse that her cousin Gunner sent her from Germany!  Let me tell you, those German horses can ride!

While we were away a week for a ski trip in Colorado, little miss got to stay with her grandparent’s.  And while she was at PaPa & GiGi’s she went with cousin Hannah to the horse barn for her riding lessons to see the horses.  She wasn’t able to get down & walk around because Aunt Tracy showed her “There was poop EVERYwhere”.  That’s all she kept saying when we called to talk to her.  I think Aunt Tracy just didn't want to let her out of her arms....

She made 100 new friends at Nana & Poppy’s house & sat on  the dock looking for fish…sooo cute!

She also got to go to the wildlife park & camping with Mimi & PaPa John.

Best of all, fishing with Uncle Major!

We recently made a "Mommy & Me" trip to Sea World to see a whale!  She was so good as she sat and watched the shows and looked at all the animals/fish.  It was so strange to just have her sitting in a seat next to me and like a little person watching and applauding with everyone else in the audience.  I was so proud of her!!!  My favorite was her trying to do the whale tongue that evening as we talked about what we saw and did that day.

So much fun for such a little girl!  We love you so much Madelyn; Mommy & Daddy couldn't ask for anything more in this world.  You are our world!!!!  Happy Birthday!

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

I think this might be the best Christmas EVER!  She was so excited and had so much fun, it really was a special one to remember.  Just watching her enjoy it all was all that we wanted for Christmas.  We tried to do fun little things to help her get ready and excited for the big day.  We made "Madelyn's Christmas tree" with ornaments in different colors and counts to practice all our colors and numbers.  It was great because it allowed her to decorate HER tree over and over as much as she wanted.  We also watched the neighborhood parade and got to see Santa, Mickey, Elmo AND a fire truck.  We also TRIED to make the famous gingerbread house, but is it really a house if it doesn't make it to 3D shape????  Oh well, just have to try again next year if Daddy will let us.....he was very bothered we were following the "directions".  Where's the fun in that?

But on the big day she was so adorable, I can only really share it with the pictures and some videos of our days along the way.

And she was did not want to put down the salt shaker....as you'll notice in the next pictures.

And she still continues to shake today....

Santa gave us Rays jerseys (can't wait for our first game)

Buddy gave Madelyn an outfit and Juliette got her new crayons because she ate the old ones ("not nice" which is all Miss Gidget says these days.. http://youtu.be/lwJOZS5Xqs8 )

Daddy gave her a princess doll and mommy got her what every girl wants "squeakies"!!

(she now talks to her dolls and gives them kisses and pretends they eat while she makes smacking noises....)

There really is only one picture to sum it all up (I think she liked it as much as she likes ice cream http://youtu.be/GJ0gA-7TdyE )

Mommy's Christmas present:  SHE FINALLY LET ME FILM THE ABC SONG!!!!!  Triumph!
and happy birthday to PaPa
