Our third month has been filled with lots of growing and milestones! Madelyn weighs all of 12 pounds and is a whole 2 feet long! Yet again I will say that I can't believe how much she is growing into this little person with so much personality. She's all smiles and we just love getting her to show it. The most exciting moments are all the new things she can do! We also celebrated my very first mother's day! We decided to grill out on the patio and have some family time together outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. And then my first mother's day present arrived. Madelyn and Ryan got me flowers!!! They were gorgeous, so I decided to save some of them to press in a book and keep forever!
Out of the blue, Madelyn found out that she has feet! It is so cute as she intently stares at them trying to get them to do exactly what she wants. We put together a new bounce seat that Grammer Tolle gave her and put the hanging toys down at her feet. She absolutely loved kicking them.
What is low to the ground, makes funny noises and has caught Madelyn's eye? Buddy and Juliette!! It is so cute how all of a sudden she notices the dogs as they walk around. She really loves staring at their white wagging tails and just grins.
We have graduated from the bassinet in dad and mom's room to the big baby bed!!! Except for a few rough nights, it has been a success. I didn't realize how light I was sleeping with her in the room until now. Mommy's little girl is growing up and moving out of the room...HaHa! The first night I pretty much sat up and watched the video monitor the entire night. I was sooo sad that I even took a picture of the monitor to remember it!
Just at 3 months, Madelyn rolled over!! She's been trying all month by first rolling to her side. She swings her leg over and then reaches out with both arms. But the arm against the floor was holding her back when she reached out. Finally, while we were visiting GG & Grandpa Gilley and with a little luck had that arm tucked under her side and Viola!
We are not looking forward to teething.....I couldn't believe it when my mom said it, but she started drooling non-stop and chewing on her hands like they are T-bones! So I went to the store and bought a teether. In a mad rush I tore it out of the packaging and threw into my microwave steam sterilizing bag so we could give it to her. As Ryan would always complain about me, I did not read the directions. They had melted in the bag. Sure enough, the package clearly stated to not put in the dishwasher or microwave.....back to the store I went. As soon as we gave it to her, she bit down and begin to rub her gums with her little eyes fluttering with comfort.
Madelyn has a new cousin, Riley! Brandon and Tina Tolle gave birth to their son, Riley Hugh Tolle and he is sooo adorable! Just look at all that hair! Clearly, Madelyn will have to borrow some hair from him until her's decides to come in. We went to visit and got to hold him. Boy did it make us realize how much Madelyn has grown. Again, we don't really see it as much since we see her every day. When she was born she was only 2 ounces heavier and 1 inch longer than Riley and he felt like a feather! It's so strange, but she doesn't seem that much bigger almost like her bones are more dense than when she was born. Boy, I can't wait to see what these two get into at Nana & Poppy's house :o)
Monday I go back at work. I'm filled with mixed emotions; I’m excited to get back doing work with my brain instead of figuring out how to put baby stuff together, see my great coworkers instead of seeing gross stuff in diapers, catch up on all the new news instead of catching spit up on my shirt, feel independent again instead of feeling inefficient by only getting maybe one load of laundry done in the day :o) And it will be nice to get into the swing of things as a family. However, I am going to really miss seeing this sweet face, holding that sleeping baby and stealing that sugar all day….I just know I'm going to cry her first day at school!
